Things to Know Before Traveling to Geneva

Banking & Payment Information in Switzerland
1. Card Types: Most bank cards, including Mastercard, Maestro, and Visa, are accepted in Switzerland, especially if your card has international transaction capabilities.
2. Currency Conversion Fees: The official currency of Switzerland is the Swiss Franc (CHF), not the Euro. Your bank may charge a conversion fee when using your card in Switzerland. The exact fee depends on your bank’s policy.
3. Card Acceptance: Some small shops or rural areas in Switzerland may only accept local cards or cash, so it’s advisable to carry some Swiss Francs (CHF) in cash.
4. Informing Your Bank: If you frequently use your German (or any other country’s) bank card in Switzerland, inform your bank to avoid possible card blocking due to suspicious activity.

Using German (or Other Foreign) Phone Lines in Switzerland
You can make calls using your German mobile or landline in Switzerland, but consider the following:

1- Roaming Charges: Switzerland is not part of the EU, so free EU roaming does not apply here.
2- Roaming Packages: Contact your mobile provider before traveling to check for special roaming packages for Switzerland.
3—Wi-Fi Calling: If your phone supports Wi-Fi calling, you can make calls without roaming charges by connecting to Wi-Fi in Switzerland. For example, in front of the UN Headquarters, you can connect to Ville de Genève Wi-Fi for free internet access.
Dialing in Switzerland: The country code for Switzerland is +41 (or 0041).

Recommendation: To avoid high costs, contact your mobile provider before traveling for guidance on pricing and the best roaming packages.

Free Public Transportation in Geneva
• Visitors staying in hotels, hostels, or official accommodations in Geneva receive a free transport card, allowing unlimited use of the city’s public transportation system.

Features of the Free Transport Card:
• Unlimited free transport on:
• Buses, trams, inner-city trains, and yellow motorboats on Lake Geneva.
• Coverage: Valid across the Unireso public transport network in Geneva.
• Eligibility:
• You will receive this card upon check-in at your accommodation.
• The card remains valid until the end of your stay.
• If you arrive by train or plane, you can collect a free ticket for travel from the airport to the city center at the Geneva Airport station (Aéroport station).
• This card is issued to all hotel guests, including children.
• Purpose: This initiative encourages public transportation and reduces private vehicle usage.

نكاتى كه بايد براى سفر به ژنو براى استقبال از شاه عزيزمان بدانيم و با دوستانمان به اشتراك بگذاريم:

‏سخنرانى بين ساعت ٩ تا ١١ در سالن CICG نزديك مقر سازمان ملل خواهد بود .

‏تجمع بزرگ روبروى سازمان ملل در كنار صندلى شكسته ساعت ١١ خواهد بود.

‏١.نوع كارت: اكثر كارتهاى بانكى( Mastercard, maestro, visa …) در سوييس پذيرفته مى شوند، مخصوصا اگر كارت شما قابليت بين المللى داشته باشد.

‏٢.كارمزد تبديل ارز:چون ارز رسمى سوييس فرانك سوييس(CHF)و نه يورو ممكن است بانك شما هزينه اى براى تبديل ارز دريافت كند.ميزان اين كارمزد بستگى به شرايط بانك شما دارد.

‏٣.پذيرش كارت: در برخى از فروشگاههاى كوچك يا مناطق روستايى در سوئيس ممكن است كارتهاى محلى يا نقد( cash) پذيرفته شود.بنابراين بهتر است هميشه مقدارى پول نقد بهمراه داشته باشيد.

‏٤.اطلاع رسانى به بانك :اگر قصد داريد به طور مداوم از كارت آلمانى ( يا هر كشور ديگرى ) خود در سوئيس استفاده كنيد ، بهتر است به بانك خود اطلاع دهيد تا جلوى مسدود شدن احتمالى كارت به دليل فعاليت مشكوك گرفته شود .

‏لطفا توجه داشته باشيد كه نرخهاى ارز به صورت مداوم تغيير مى كنندو ممكن است در طول روز نوسان داشته باشد.براى دريافت نرخهاى به روز ، توصيه مى شود به منابع مالى معتبر يا سايتهاى رسمى بانكها مراجعه شود.

‏شما مى توانيد يا خطوط تلفن آلمان( همراه يا ثابت) در سوئيس تماس بگيريد.اما نكات زير را در نظر داشته باشيد:

‏١.هزينه هاى رومينگ بين المللى : سوئيس جزو اتحاديه اروپا نيست بنابراين قوانين رومينگ رايگان شامل اين كشور نمى باشد.

‏٢.بسته هاى رومينگ:بهتر است قبل از سفر با اپراتور خود تماس بگيريد براى تهيه بسته هاى رومينگ مخصوص سفر به كشور سوئيس .

‏٣.واى فاى كالينگ(wi-fi calling):

‏اگر تلفن شما از تماس از طريق واى فاى پشتيبانى مى كند ، مى توانيد در سوييس با اتصال به اينترنت واى فاى بدون هزينه رومينگ تماس برقرار كنيد .( مثلا روبروى سازمان ملل در قسمت واى فاى تلفنتان ville de Geneve را انتخاب كنيد و مجانى به اينترنت وصل شويد) .

‏٤.شماره گيرى در سوئيس :پيش شماره سوئيس 0041 مى باشد.

‏توصيه: قبل از سفر به سوييس براى جلوگيرى از هزينه بالا با اپراتور خود تماس بگيريد و درباره هزينه ها و بسته هاى مناسب مشاوره بگيريد.

‏حمل و نقل رايگان در ژنو:

‏يك كارت رايگان به مسافرانى كه در هتلها ، هاستلها و ديگر اقامتگاههاى رسمى ژنو اقامت دارند ، داده مى شود.اين كارت امكان استفاده رايگان از سيستم حمل و نقل عمومى شهر ژنو را فراهم مى كند.

‏ويژگى ها:

‏حمل و نقل رايگان: اتوبوس ها ، ترامواها ، قطارهاى داخل شهر ، قايق موتورى ها( رنگ زرد ) در سطح درياچه ژنو

‏پوشش ها:اين كارت در همه شبكه حمل و نقل عمومى شهر ژنو ( Unireso)معتبر مى باشد.

‏شرايط دريافت:

‏هنگام ورود به اقامتگاه خود اين كارت را دريافت خواهيد كرد و اين كارت تا پايان اقامت شما در هتل معتبر مى باشد.

‏حتى اگر با قطار يا هواپيما وارد ژنو مى شويد مى توانيد از بليط رايگان از فرودگاه به مركز شهر استفاده كنيد ( اين بليط در ايستگاه aéroport فرودگاه ژنو قابل دريافت است)

‏اين كارت براى همه مسافرانى كه در هتل اقامت دارند از جمله كودكان صادر مى شود.

‏اين ابتكار براى تشويق به استفاده از حمل و نقل عمومى و كاهش استفاده از خودروهاى شخصى طراحى شده است.
